The Nagpur police's crime branch has taken action against a group of thieves and burglars, successfully resolving nine cases in two operations, providing relief to the residents. During one operation, two burglars were caught and seven cases were solved. The city police have intensified their efforts to address the rising concerns of vehicle thefts and burglaries. In a recent incident, valuable possessions totaling Rs6.54 lakh were stolen from Mukesh Nipani's home in Vaishali Nagar. Following a case being filed with the Pachpaoli police, the crime branch initiated an investigation. Key information from CCTV footage linked the suspects to the crime, leading to the arrest of Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23). Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts, resulting in the recovery of stolen goods and three vehicles with a total value of Rs9.53 lakh. It was revealed that the suspects engage in criminal activities to support their substance abuse habits. Ramakant is also sought in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate case, three culprits were arrested by crime branch unit 5, resolving two vehicle theft cases. The arrests of Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24) were made possible through CCTV footage and effective intelligence gathering.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered, along with the bike used in the crime, which have a combined value of Rs1.20 lakh. It has been noted that a majority of vehicle thefts take place in busy or market areas of the city. Additionally, most burglaries are reported on the outskirts of the city, falling within the jurisdiction of police stations like Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, and others. Local residents have requested increased night patrolling by the police to prevent such incidents. In turn, the police have advised citizens to notify their neighbors and local police stations if they plan to leave the city, so that both the police and locals can keep a watchful eye on their homes.
